I hope you had a successful 2007-08 school year and you are looking forward to a restful summer. I wish you all the best. This year has been a successful year for the FIAAA as we embarked on our 30 year anniversary. This year we had a very successful conference where over 160 Athletic Administrators from across the state attended and we offered 9 Leadership Training Courses, by far the most that we ever had before. The 2008-09 year looks to be very challenging as we all face budget cuts in our respective areas. The 2008-09 year will see the transition of the Athletic Directors Advisory Committee to the FIAAA Board of Directors. As you are probably already know, the FIAAA works closely with the FHSAA and your FHSAA dues pays for your entire athletic staff’s FIAAA membership. I would like to encourage every Athletic Administrator to be active and involved this year as we embark on the next 30 years. As an Athletic Administrator you have a great impact on your student athletes, your coaching staffs and your community. You also can have a great impact on the FIAAA organization by being active. Every district has a District Director on the FIAAA Board so you can always communicate with them. We conclude each year with our annual conference in May. The 2008-09 FIAAA conference will be held on May 2nd-5th, 2009 at the Orlando Airport Marriott. During the conference we hold our annual meeting and district breakfast where we discuss the business for the next year. I would also like to encourage everyone who isn’t a member of the NIAAA to join and attend the National Conference in December. This year the National Conference will be held in San Diego, California. The National Conference is truly one of the most rewarding experiences you will have as an Athletic Administrator. Finally, as we get into this new school year, if I can be of assistance, please feel free to contact me. The entire FIAAA Board of Directors are there for you, remember, this is your organization.
Finally, as a reminder, the FIAAA has a terrific website at www.FIAAA.org where you can obtain any information you may need.
Again, Have a Great Summer and Good luck on the upcoming school year.
