Welcome to the website of the FIAAA. I trust you will find this site helpful to you in conducting your business as an athletic administrator. Today’s world of high school athletics is very dynamic and challenging. Changes in techniques, trends and technology forces you to stay ahead of the curve. Budget issues are a concern at the local, state and federal level and put you in a constant state of adjustment. Legal issues in athletics are always a concern to you, your coaches and administration. You must be a master of time management and most importantly, find time for yourself and your family.
As a member of the FIAAA, I encourage you to take advantage of what this organization has to offer. Various leadership and management training courses are offered throughout the year at multiple locations. These courses will help you reach the nationally recognized title of CAA and CMAA. Get to know your district director as he or she can be a great resource for your needs. You can always send them suggestions or ideas to present to the FHSAA. Take advantage of the many state scholarships and awards that are presented each year at the annual conference.
Plan to attend the annual conference held in May. You will find the information, speakers; networking and fellowship invaluable to you and your profession.
It is an honor to serve as your president for 2009-2010. Whether you are a veteran or a rookie, the FIAAA can be of assistance to you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

It is a pleasure to serve you and the FIAAA as the President-Elect for 2009-10. During my tenure as a member of the FIAAA, I feel that the professionalism in our field has grown tremendously. It is my desire to continue those efforts for this school year.
The growth has come in many different areas but none is more evident than in the Leadership Training Courses (LTC). The number of LTC participants was drastically higher during the May 2009 conference as compared to previous years. With more participants, more courses were able to be offered. The improvement in numbers of participants will only continue to improve the quality of work done by athletic administrators across the state.
The annual conference referenced above also had high numbers in attendance, despite the state of the economy. This is just another sign that the professionalism is improving. It is never too early to start thinking about next year’s conference. It will be held at the Orlando Airport Marriott from May 1-4, 2010. Please mark your calendars.
Now that you have the date saved, please plan on attending. Please also consider, improving your professionalism through the LTC offered at the conference. Together, let’s make 2009-10 the best year despite the economic challenges that we face.

As you may know this year was the first official contracted year for the position of Executive Director of the FIAAA. The first three years were a pilot program to see if the position was needed and what could be gained from it by the organization. I am happy to report that both I and the organization are happy with the agreement and have seen many benefits from having the position. One of the biggest gains is the communication between the executive director and the officers especially the president-elect. We have communicated regarding the annual conference and I would like to commend Dan Comeau for putting on a fine conference in these trying economic times. One of the big tasks of the executive director is to coordinate special projects which the board deems necessary for the organization. Last year it was the creation of a five year strategic plan which is now up and running. This year’s task is to look over the structure and operations of the FIAAA and make sure we have procedures for what we do. It was felt by the board that this was necessary since most of our information is passed from one president to another and sometimes over a period of time procedures seem to change. We already have a handbook which covers some of the things we need to carry on, but it was felt that a procedures and operations manual (POP) is something that would benefit the FIAAA for years to come. We have begun work on it, and have discovered it is a large task; we will be updating you as we progress with this project.
